Meek Posts[edit]

Inspired by the Instagram account nikitas_traveler about a toy monkey who travels the world.

Meek, a toy sloth, is the mascot of Girona Buddies. The posts are cute but also have an educational tone. Meek teaches the reader things about Girona.

Humans of New York-Style Interviews[edit]

Inspired by https://www.instagram.com/humansofny/ (12.8 million followers). These are photos (and sometimes videos) of random people in New York. In the caption are their stories, told in their voice.

  • The people should be as diverse as possible (age, gender, social background, country) to show that Girona Buddies is diverse.
  • The people in the photos can use any language they want for the caption: Catalan, English, Spanish, other. This shows language diversity.
  • Try to get people to tell emotional stories.

Information Posts[edit]

  • Monthly "What's on in Girona" post, pinned to the top of Instagram
  • Occasional info posts based on common questions in the General chat

Festivalot video on 9 June 2025[edit]

On 9 June 2025, Paul posted a video of a family music festival called Festival in Girona. He had shot the video the weekend before and it took him 2-3 hours to edit it. The video ended up getting 350 views but only 8 likes, and Paul saw that people were actually unfollowing the Girona Buddies account because of the video (the follower count was going down).

Watch the video at https://youtube.com/shorts/RBSxCaZtLbg

Paul's suspected reasons for the video's unpopularity:

  • Use of Spanish music for the background music, instead of Catalan music, or indeed any music that was played at the festival.
  • The video was maybe annoying to people? With fast cuts, overbearing music, and large text
  • A family music festival is only relevant to people with children. Anyone without children would have just scrolled past
